Rare Eagle Ford Petrified Wood

I discovered an entire petrified tree along the western edge of the Eagle Ford in Grand Prairie. I've removed roughly 15 feet of the tree, mostly the smaller branches, and Mercer Brugler polished some of the pieces I cut. The presence of pholad clams indicates that this was once soft, water-saturated wood along the Western Interior Sea shoreline. The clams were mostly replaced with calcite crystals over time, creating a brilliant appearance under UV light.

Duck Creek Formation Eopachydiscus

It's not unusual to find eopachydiscus ammonites with pyrite nodules on the outside, but this particular specimen has pyrite clustered all around the inner whorls, which I uncovered after removing soft limestone matrix that was covering the area. The pyrite sparkles when you get close to it.

Own A Unique Reminder Of Ancient History

Our Fossils Are From The Rapidly Developing DFW Metroplex.

This means that your fossil is not just unique, but also increasingly scarce as more land becomes fenced off and developed throughout DFW. Each fossil tells a story, and we take great care in preserving the fossil as found to the best of our ability. All of these factors also give fossils scientific, monetary, and sentimental value, just as other collectibles or physical assets tend to retain or even increase value over time. There will never be another fossil exactly the same as yours!
